Kid Icarus: Journey of a Warrior on Game Boy is one of those old-school platformers that feels simple at first—until you realize how much it throws at you. You start as Pit, this little winged guy who moves kinda stiffly at first, but once you get the hang of jumping and shooting arrows, it clicks. The levels are these weird vertical climbs with floating platforms, and half the time you're just trying not to fall into the abyss.

There’s something charmingly janky about it—the enemies pop up out of nowhere, the music’s got that classic Game Boy bleep-bloop energy, and some of the power-ups (like the temporary flight) feel like they’re barely holding together. But that’s part of the fun. You’ll die a lot, but it’s the kind of game where you immediately want to try again because you know exactly where you messed up.

If you’re into retro games with a bit of a learning curve, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
