Keiba Simulation - Honmei Game

Ever wanted to play the ponies on an old-school NES? Keiba Simulation - Honmei is basically horse racing meets spreadsheet—in the best way possible. You pick your stable, manage stats like stamina and speed, then watch blocky little horses thunder down the track. The menus are all in Japanese, but after a few races you start recognizing which numbers mean "this horse is about to collapse."
There’s something weirdly satisfying about tweaking training routines between races—push too hard and your horse burns out by the final stretch. I lost my first five races before realizing slow starters actually have a shot if you pace them right. The pixelated crowd even does a little cheer when your horse wins, which feels oddly rewarding for a game from 1988.
It’s definitely niche, but if you like micromanaging stats with a side of nostalgia, this one’s a deep cut worth digging up.
