Kawa No Nushi Tsuri—or "River King" if you're not into the whole Japanese title thing—is one of those weirdly charming NES fishing games that somehow makes sitting by a riverbank way more exciting than it should be. You start with a basic rod, some bait, and zero patience, but before long you're obsessing over the perfect spot to cast, watching the ripples for a bite, and praying you don't lose that monster fish that just snapped your line. The pixelated water actually looks kinda nice, and the fish fight back harder than you'd expect.

It's got that old-school quirk where the controls feel a little stiff at first, but once you get the rhythm of reeling in, it's weirdly satisfying. Also, the music? Super chill, like you're actually wasting an afternoon by the river instead of hunched over a keyboard. If you ever played the Harvest Moon fishing minigame and wished it was the whole game, this might scratch that itch.

Just don't blame me when you spend 20 minutes trying to catch the legendary fish that may or may not exist.
