Kawa No Nushi Tsuri 3 is one of those weirdly charming Game Boy fishing RPGs—yeah, you read that right. It’s part of the "Legend of the River King" series, but Japan got this one under a different name. You start off with a basic rod, some bait, and a whole lot of patience as you wander around catching fish that somehow tie into quests and battles? It’s bizarre but weirdly satisfying once you get the hang of it.
The pixel art has this cozy, nostalgic feel, and the fishing mechanics are deeper than you’d expect—different lures, weather effects, even fish that only bite at certain times. I spent way too long trying to catch this one rare carp near a bridge before realizing I needed better gear. Classic Game Boy jank, but in the best way.
If you’re into obscure retro games with a chill vibe, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
