About Karate Champ
Karate Champ came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1984, developed by Technos Japan. It was one of the early fighting games on the console, arriving before the genre became crowded with more complex titles.
You control a karateka from a side view, squaring off against a single opponent in each match. The main objective is to land a clean strike on your rival before they can hit you, winning two rounds to claim victory. The game uses a two-button control scheme where you combine the directional pad with the A and B buttons to perform different punches, kicks, and blocks. Matches are quick and decisive, often ending in just a few moves, which makes the timing feel strict and the difficulty quite sharp. Playing it feels like a rapid test of reflexes and memory for the correct inputs.
