About Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 3 - Taiketsu! Zouringen (japan)
Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 3 came out for the NES in 1991, developed and published by Namco. It was part of that late NES wave where developers were really pushing the hardware, creating more complex platformers with unique movement options.
You control a young ninja named Yanchamaru, who wields a bo staff. Your goal is to rescue a kidnapped princess by navigating through a series of side scrolling stages. The core of the game is its movement; you use the staff to pole vault over gaps and, more importantly, to perform a pogo bounce on enemies and environmental hazards. This pogo move is essential, letting you reach higher platforms and attack from above. The levels are designed around this mechanic, demanding precise jumps and quick reactions. It feels fast and fluid when you get the rhythm of bouncing and vaulting just right.
