About Just Breed (japan)
Just Breed came out in 1992 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Enix. It was a late release for the NES, arriving when many developers were already moving to the 16-bit consoles. The game is a strategy RPG, a genre that was still finding its footing on the system outside of a few notable titles.
You control a party of characters, moving them across an overworld map and through towns. The main goal is to defeat an ancient evil that has returned, which involves traveling to various castles and dungeons. Combat takes place on grid-based maps where you position your units for tactical advantage, using swords, bows, and magic. Exploration is screen by screen, and you often need to find specific items to progress. The game has a deliberate pace, and some of the later battles can be quite difficult, requiring careful planning. Playing it feels like slowly unraveling a large, methodical puzzle.
