Jurassic Park on the Game Boy came out in 1993, developed and published by Ocean Software. It was one of many licensed games from that period, a time when handheld adaptations often took creative liberties with their source material. You control Dr. Alan Grant, navigating the park from a top-down perspective across interconnected screens. Your main goal is to restore power to the park's security systems and find a way to escape Isla Nublar. The gameplay involves exploring different areas, collecting key cards to access new locations, and solving simple environmental puzzles. Combat is a constant threat; you use tranquilizer darts to temporarily subdue dinosaurs, conserving your limited ammo. The pacing is deliberate, with a focus on careful exploration and resource management over action. The difficulty comes from the maze-like layout and the persistent danger of dinosaurs respawning in previously cleared areas. It feels like a tense, methodical scramble for survival against overwhelming odds.
