Jungle Strike on the Game Boy is this weirdly addictive little isometric shooter where you're basically a one-man army against drug lords and terrorists. You start off in a Comanche helicopter, blowing up everything in sight—tanks, boats, the occasional bridge—and it feels surprisingly smooth for a Game Boy title. The controls take a second to get used to, but once you do, weaving through enemy fire while unloading missiles is stupidly satisfying.
What’s cool is you don’t just stick to the helicopter. Later missions throw you into a hovercraft or even a stealth bomber, and each one handles totally differently. The hovercraft slides around like it’s on ice, while the F117 feels like a tank with wings. The levels are short but packed with stuff to blow up, and the bosses (especially that psycho Kilbaba) actually put up a fight. It’s got that classic ‘90s vibe where the story is just an excuse to shoot things, and honestly? That’s all it needs.
If you’ve got a Game Boy and a soft spot for chaotic top-down action, this one’s a blast.
