About Jungle Strike
Jungle Strike on the Game Boy came out in 1995 from Ocean Software. It was part of that wave of portable games trying to bring a console style of action to the small screen. You got a solid, scaled down version of the Strike series, which was a nice change of pace from the usual platformers and puzzle games.
You pilot a high tech helicopter through a series of missions to stop a terrorist group. Your main job is to fly from one objective to the next, shooting down enemy vehicles and protecting allied forces. The gameplay shifts between free flying stages and more deliberate, screen by screen assaults where you must clear all enemies to proceed. You manage your fuel and ammunition carefully, landing at times to rescue hostages. The difficulty is pretty relentless, demanding quick reflexes and good aim. It feels tense and satisfying when you complete a mission against the odds.
