Jungle Strike on Game Boy is one of those classic top-down helicopter shooters where you're constantly swerving between trees while dodging missiles and taking out enemy bases. The controls are simple—just move and shoot—but the jungle gets seriously claustrophobic when tanks start firing from below and patrol boats unload on you from the rivers.
What I love is how the missions mix things up—one minute you're rescuing hostages, the next you're blowing up a dam before the timer runs out. The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially when your chopper goes down in flames (which happens a lot at first). Just don't expect mercy—this game came from an era where "checkpoints" were a luxury.
If you've got a soft spot for '90s action games that don't hold your hand, this one's a solid time capsule.
