Jungle Book on Game Boy is one of those licensed platformers that actually holds up. You start off as Mowgli running through dense jungle, jumping over pits and dodging snakes—classic stuff. The vine swinging feels surprisingly good for an 8-bit game, though I definitely faceplanted into a few too many thorn bushes at first.
What surprised me was how much they packed in: you'll fight Shere Khan with fire, bounce on hippos in the river levels, and even play as Baloo in some sections. The sprites are tiny but weirdly expressive—Kaa's hypnotic eyes actually look creepy when he's filling the whole screen. Just don't expect the Disney soundtrack; you're getting bleep-bloop jungle beats instead.
It's tougher than you'd think for a kids' game, especially when the panther attacks start coming fast. I still keep it around for when I want that old-school platforming itch scratched.
