Jumpin' Kid is this weirdly charming NES platformer based on Jack and the Beanstalk, but with a twist—you're not just climbing a beanstalk, you're bouncing around like a hyperactive kid hopped up on candy. The controls take a second to get used to (Jack has this floaty jump that feels both awkward and kinda fun once you adjust), but once you do, it's oddly satisfying to chain jumps off clouds and enemies.
First level throws you right into it—giant leaves to hop across, sneaky birds that dive at you, and these beanstalk sections where timing your jumps is everything. The music's got that classic NES chirpiness, and the sprite work is simple but colorful. Not gonna lie, some of the later jumps get brutal, but there's something about the janky physics that makes nailing a tricky section feel like a win.
If you're into obscure retro platformers with personality, this one's a hidden gem. Just don't throw your controller when you miss the same jump five times in a row.
