Okay, so this is the Game Boy version of Judge Dredd, based on the Stallone movie (which, let’s be honest, wasn’t exactly a masterpiece). You play as the iconic lawman, blasting through criminals in a side-scrolling shooter with some light platforming. The sprites are tiny but surprisingly detailed—Dredd’s got his helmet and shoulder pads, at least.
First level drops you right into Mega-City One’s grimy streets, taking down thugs with your Lawgiver pistol. Controls are stiff, like most GB action games from this era, but it’s got that weirdly satisfying clunkiness. You’ll run into a few movie references, like the ABC robot, but mostly it’s just generic goons to shoot. Not amazing, but if you’re into ‘90s licensed games, it’s a decent time-waster.
