About Jetsons, The - Cogswell's Caper! (japan)
I picked up The Jetsons: Cogswell's Caper when it came out for the NES in 1992. It was published by Taito, and it fit right in with the colorful, side scrolling platformers that were common on the system back then. The game puts you in the shiny shoes of George Jetson, and the story is a simple setup: your boss, Mr. Cosgswell, has a scheme to blow up a planet, and you have to stop him.
You control George through a series of levels, running and jumping across platforms while avoiding or bopping enemies on the head. Your main goal is to gather pieces of a bomb scattered throughout each stage before you can move on. A couple of things stand out: you can collect and use different gadgets, like a temporary shield, and you also have a jetpack that lets you make tricky jumps or hover for a moment. The levels are fairly linear but require careful timing, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later areas. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes challenging dash through a cartoon world.
