Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed and published by Hudson Soft. It was part of that wave of side-scrolling action games that filled the NES library, a straightforward brawler built around a recognizable star.
You control Jackie Chan himself, moving screen by screen through levels filled with enemy martial artists and animals. Your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped master by fighting through these stages. You have a standard punch and a useful flying kick to clear space, and you can collect power-ups to shoot energy balls from your fists. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can be sharp, especially with the screen-filling bosses. Playing it feels like a rapid-fire test of reflexes and pattern recognition.
