Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu is one of those NES games that feels like a Saturday morning cartoon—bright, fast, and just a little bit silly. You play as Jackie (obviously), jumping and kicking your way through levels packed with enemies that look like they stepped out of a bad kung fu dub. The controls are simple—punch, jump, and a weird little somersault move that somehow works—but the real charm is in the goofy animations and the way Jackie flails when he gets hit.
First level throws you right into it: bamboo forests, floating platforms, and these weird frog guys who hop at you like they’ve had too much coffee. The music’s catchy in that classic NES way, and the bosses? Huge, screen-filling monsters that take way too many hits to go down. It’s not the deepest game, but it’s got this weird energy that makes it hard to put down once you start. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into old-school action games.
