Iron League Game

Iron League on the Game Boy is one of those games that looks simple at first—just a bunch of pixel warriors duking it out—but once you pick your fighter and jump into a match, you realize there’s way more to it. The controls are tight, and every move feels deliberate, whether you’re dodging attacks or lining up that perfect counter.
I remember spending way too much time trying to unlock all the characters. Some of them are straight-up overpowered (looking at you, ninja guy), but that’s part of the fun. The sprite animations are surprisingly smooth for a Game Boy title, and the chunky sound effects make every hit satisfying.
It’s the kind of game you’d play on a long car ride, trying to beat your high score while your siblings argue in the backseat. If you’ve still got a Game Boy kicking around, this one’s worth dusting off.
