International Superstar Soccer '98 on N64 was way ahead of its time—the animations actually looked like real soccer players for once, not stiff little sprites. You’ve got all the big national teams (Brazil’s unstoppable, obviously), and the controls just feel right—none of that awkward sliding around you got in earlier soccer games.
First thing you’ll notice? The way players celebrate goals with these over-the-top dives and backflips. It’s ridiculous in the best way. And the commentary’s hilariously dramatic, like every shot is the World Cup final. Still holds up if you’re into classic sports games, especially with friends.
