International Superstar Soccer 64 was way ahead of its time for an N64 soccer game. The animations still hold up—players actually stumble when they get tackled, and the way the ball moves feels surprisingly realistic for a late '90s title. Rain matches are brutal because the ball just skids everywhere, and I swear the AI gets sneakier when it's pouring.
You’ve got all the big national teams (though no real player names, thanks to licensing), and the multiplayer is where it really shines. Nothing like pulling off a last-minute bicycle kick to crush your friend’s hopes. The controls take a minute to get used to—hold Z to sprint, tap B for a soft pass—but once it clicks, you’ll be sliding tackles and curling shots like a pro. Still one of the best arcade-style soccer games out there.
