Initial D Gaiden Game

Initial D Gaiden on Game Boy is basically the closest you could get to drifting tofu in the 90s without actually owning an AE86. You start off picking your ride—of course I went straight for Takumi’s Eight-Six—and then it’s all about nailing those tight mountain passes. The drifting feels surprisingly decent for a tiny cartridge, though you’ll definitely eat guardrails a few times before getting the timing right.
What’s cool is how they crammed in the vibe of the anime—the pixelated headlights flashing in your rearview, the way your tires screech around hairpins. It’s not exactly Gran Turismo, but for a Game Boy racer, the sense of speed is weirdly satisfying. Just don’t expect deep customization or anything; this is pure arcade-style "throw your car sideways and pray" action.
If you grew up with Initial D or just love old-school racers, it’s a fun little time capsule. Just maybe mute the soundtrack unless you’re really into tinny MIDI Eurobeat.
