About Image Fight (japan)
Image Fight came out in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Irem. It was part of that wave of shooters on the NES where you had to navigate tight spaces and deal with waves of enemies, a familiar challenge for players at the time.
You pilot a small, customizable fighter through a series of distinct stages. Your main goal is to survive the onslaught and destroy a mothership. The game is known for its screen by screen progression; you clear one section of enemies before the screen scrolls to the next, which demands careful positioning. You can collect different weapon pods that attach to your ship, letting you aim shots in multiple directions to cover your flanks. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is steep, especially in the later stages where enemy patterns become unforgiving. It feels like a constant test of your reflexes and planning.
