About Ikari Warriors 2
Ikari Warriors 2 came out for the NES in 1987, developed and published by SNK. It arrived during a time when the console was full of side-scrolling action games, and this one tried to stand out with its own take on the run-and-gun formula.
You control one of two soldiers, Paul or Vince, moving screen by screen through jungles, caves, and enemy bases. Your main goal is to fight through these areas, rescue prisoners, and ultimately defeat the warlord Zang Zip. The game gives you a standard rifle, but you can pick up power-ups like a spread shot or a flamethrower to clear enemies faster. You also drive vehicles, including a tank that can absorb a few hits before you have to continue on foot. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all directions, and the difficulty is quite steep. It feels like a constant, frantic scramble for survival against overwhelming odds.
