Hyper Olympics Nagano 64 is one of those N64 sports games that actually holds up—mostly because it doesn’t take itself too seriously. You’ve got downhill skiing, snowboarding, even curling (yeah, really), and the controls are surprisingly smooth for a late-90s winter sports sim. The graphics were decent for the time, with some nice little details like snow kicking up when you wipe out on a ski jump.
What I like is how arcade-y it feels—you’re not bogged down by hyper-realism, just quick events where timing and rhythm matter. The two-player mode is where it shines, though. Nothing like watching your friend faceplant off a halfpipe while you barely stick the landing. It’s not the deepest sports game out there, but if you want some chaotic winter competition, this one’s a solid pick.
