So, The Hunt for Red October on NES—yeah, it’s exactly what it sounds like. You’re basically piloting a submarine through side-scrolling levels, dodging mines and torpedoes while trying to take out enemy ships. It’s got that classic late-'80s movie tie-in energy—clunky but weirdly charming.

The controls take a second to get used to (why does up/down feel so sluggish?), but once you adjust, it’s oddly satisfying lining up shots and watching enemy subs explode in pixelated glory. The music’s tense, too—lots of deep bass notes that make you feel like you’re actually sneaking through Cold War waters. Not gonna lie, though, some of those tight corridors are brutal.

If you’re into retro games with a side of nostalgia, this one’s a solid time capsule.
