About Humans, The
I first played Humans: The On Gb on my Game Boy back in 1992. It was developed by Imagitec Design Inc., and it fit right in with the kind of thoughtful, slow paced puzzle games that were common on the handheld at the time. You didn't get flashy graphics, just a solid concept that asked you to think your way through.
You control a small tribe of prehistoric people, guiding them from the left side of each screen to the exit on the right. Your main goal is to help them discover tools, which is the key to their evolution. The gameplay is built on screen by screen exploration, where you have to figure out how to use the environment and newly found items, like spears and torches, to solve physical puzzles. It's a methodical game; you often have to plan the order of your moves carefully, as a wrong step can leave a character stuck. The difficulty comes from this precision, not from fast reflexes. Playing it feels like quietly assembling a logic problem with your own little clan.
