About Hudson Hawk
I picked up Hudson Hawk on the Game Boy back in 1991, a time when licensed games were everywhere. Ocean Software published it, and it was their attempt to bring the Bruce Willis movie to the small screen. You don't see many people talking about it now, but it was just another title on the shelf back then, trying to capture the film's heist comedy vibe in a portable format.
You control the titular hawk, a master thief, navigating through side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to pull off a series of thefts, moving screen by screen through mansions and museums. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping between platforms and avoiding guards; you can use a sword for close combat or a bow for attacking from a distance. You also collect items, like keys to open doors, which is essential for progressing. The pacing is fairly quick, but the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially with some precise platforming required. It feels like a straightforward action game that keeps you moving from one objective to the next without much downtime.
