About Hook (europe)
I first played Hook on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1992, a game published by Ocean Software. It was one of many movie tie-ins from that period, and it arrived right as the NES was sharing the stage with newer, more powerful consoles. You knew what you were getting with these licensed games; they were familiar, often a bit rough, but they brought the movie's world into your living room.
You control Peter Banning, who becomes Peter Pan again, navigating side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to rescue your children from Captain Hook, moving screen by screen through Neverland locations like the forest and the pirate ship. You fight with a sword, deflecting enemy attacks and dueling pirates, and you also collect items and magic to progress. The pacing is deliberate, with some tricky platforming sections that require precise jumps. It feels like a straightforward adventure where your skill with the sword and your timing on the jumps determine how far you get.
