About Home Alone (japan)
I picked up Home Alone for the Game Boy back in 1991, a release from Imagineering Inc. It was one of many licensed games from that era, a time when you could find almost any movie translated into a portable experience. This one tried to capture the spirit of the film on the small, green-tinted screen.
You control Kevin McCallister, and your goal is to survive until the clock runs out while two burglars try to catch you. The house is laid out screen by screen, and you run through the rooms setting traps. You collect various items from toy cars to ornaments, then place them on the floor to trip up the pursuing Wet Bandits. The challenge is managing your time; you have to be quick to set a trap and then faster to run away before they get you. It feels like a frantic game of cat and mouse where you are always just a few steps ahead.
