So, this is the Game Boy version of Home Alone—yep, the one based on the movie. It’s a side-scroller where you play as Kevin, running around the house setting up traps for the Wet Bandits. The controls are a little stiff (classic Game Boy), but there’s something weirdly satisfying about dropping paint cans on Harry and Marv’s heads.
You start off in the house, picking up random junk like toy cars and BB guns to use as weapons. The first few screens are basically a tutorial for how to place traps, but things get hectic fast when the burglars show up. The music’s got that bouncy, slightly off-key Game Boy charm, and the sprites are tiny but recognizable. Not gonna lie, it’s janky, but in that nostalgic way where you can’t help but grin when you finally pull off a perfect trap sequence.
If you grew up with the movie or just love weird licensed games, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
