Hoi Hoi - Game Boy Ban (japan) Game

Hoi Hoi - Game Boy Ban is one of those weird little Japan-only Game Boy titles that makes you go, "Wait, what is this?" At first glance, it looks like a simple puzzle game—you're stacking these round, cartoony creatures called Hoi Hoi in a grid, trying to match colors. But then the music kicks in, all cheerful and slightly offbeat, and the Hoi Hoi start making these ridiculous squeaky noises when you move them.
It’s got that classic early '90s Game Boy charm—simple but surprisingly addictive once you get into it. The controls are straightforward (d-pad and two buttons, no fuss), but some of the later stages actually get pretty tricky. I remember getting stuck on this one level where the Hoi Hoi just wouldn’t stop spawning, and I panicked trying to clear space before the screen filled up.
If you’re into obscure retro puzzlers, this one’s a neat little time capsule. Just don’t blame me when you start humming the theme music hours later.
