Hiryuu No Ken III is one of those NES beat 'em ups that flew under the radar outside Japan, but it's got this weird charm to it. You pick from five dragon warriors—each with their own fighting style—and just start wrecking dudes in side-scrolling brawls. The sprites are chunky, the punches feel weighty, and there's something satisfying about how enemies go flying when you land a good hit.
It's not as polished as Final Fight or Streets of Rage, but the combo system is surprisingly deep for an NES game. Took me a few tries to figure out the timing, but once you get the hang of chaining moves, it clicks. Also, the music slaps—that 8-bit synth soundtrack gets stuck in your head after a while.
If you're into retro brawlers and don't mind some jank, this one's a solid time. Just don't expect a masterpiece.
