About High Speed
High Speed came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, developed by Tim Martin. It was part of that wave of straightforward arcade-style games that filled out the NES library, a solid attempt to bring the physical pinball experience home.
You control the two flippers at the bottom of the screen, using them to launch the ball and keep it in play. The main goal is to score as many points as possible by hitting targets, ramps, and bumpers before you lose all your balls. Key mechanics include the multiball feature, which puts several balls into play at once for chaotic scoring, and the need for precise timing to nudge the table without tilting. The game moves quickly, demanding sharp reflexes to prevent the ball from draining. It feels like a genuine test of hand-eye coordination and patience.
