Hexen on the N64 is one of those moody, gothic shooters that feels like Doom but with way more dark fantasy vibes. You pick between a warrior, cleric, or mage—each plays totally different, and I always end up going back to the mage because flinging fireballs never gets old. The levels twist and turn, full of hidden switches and weird puzzles that’ll have you backtracking just to figure out where that one missing key is.
It’s got that classic mid-90s aesthetic—chunky textures, eerie ambient sounds, and enemies that lurch at you from the shadows. Some of the platforming bits are janky by today’s standards, but there’s something weirdly charming about how unapologetically grim and cryptic the whole thing is. If you’re into retro FPS games with a side of dungeon-crawling, this one’s a trip.
