Hatris came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by Bullet-Proof Software. It was one of many puzzle games that appeared on the handheld, trying to capture some of the magic of falling block games after Tetris became a phenomenon.

You control a pair of disembodied hands at the bottom of the screen. Hats fall from the top, and you must stack them in matching columns of five. The main objective is to clear hats before the stack reaches the top of the playfield. Two key mechanics define the game: you can swap the positions of any two hats on the screen, and you can also rotate the entire stack of hats in a column. The pace starts slow but quickly becomes frantic as more and more hats of different types descend. It feels like a constant, scrambling effort to organize the chaos before it overwhelms you.
