About Harvest Mo
Harvest Moon GB came out in 1998 for the original Game Boy, published by Natsume. It was part of that era where you could finally take a complex simulation game with you in your pocket. While other portable games were about quick action, this one asked for a longer commitment.
You control a young farmer who inherits a neglected plot of land. Your main goal is to restore the farm to prosperity and, if you choose, start a family. The core loop involves clearing fields, planting and watering crops each day, and raising animals like cows and chickens. You explore the nearby town screen by screen, talking to villagers, giving gifts, and sometimes participating in seasonal festivals. The game moves at a deliberate pace, governed by a day and night cycle and changing seasons, and it can be difficult to manage your energy and time efficiently. It feels quietly absorbing to build a life from the ground up, season after season.
