Hanafuda Yuukyou Den - Nagarebana Oryuu (japan) (unl) Game

Ever played a hanafuda game that feels like a Yakuza side story? That’s basically Nagarebana Oryuu—a weird, kinda charming NES take on traditional Japanese flower cards, but with a gangster twist. You’re some tough guy in a kimono, slapping down cards to win rounds while dramatic music plays in the background. The pixel art’s surprisingly detailed for an NES game, especially the card designs.
First few minutes, you’ll fumble with the rules if you’re not familiar with hanafuda (I definitely did). But once it clicks, it’s oddly satisfying—matching moon-viewing scenes or cherry blossoms while your gruff opponent scowls at you. There’s even a weirdly intense duel mode where the stakes feel way higher than they should for a card game. Not gonna lie, the whole thing’s niche, but if you dig retro oddities or want to pretend you’re a gambling ronin, it’s a fun little time capsule.
