Hamster Monogatari 64 is one of those weirdly cozy N64 games where you basically just hang out with a hamster. At first, it feels simple—you feed it, clean its cage, maybe give it a little wheel to run on—but then you realize there’s this oddly satisfying loop to keeping the little guy happy. The graphics are super cute in that late-90s low-poly way, and the hamsters actually have little personalities if you pay attention.
I wasn’t expecting much when I first booted it up, but there’s something weirdly zen about it. No high scores, no pressure, just you and a tiny digital rodent living your best lives. Definitely not for everyone, but if you ever wanted a pet hamster without the actual mess, this is the closest you’ll get on the N64.
