About Gumshoe (usa, Europe)
Gumshoe came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, a game published and developed by Nintendo. It was part of that early wave of NES titles that experimented with the hardware, in this case requiring the Zapper light gun to play. This set it apart from the standard platformers and action games that dominated the console at the time.
You control a detective named Gumshoe, and the screen scrolls continuously to the right, forcing you to keep moving. Your main tool is the Zapper; you shoot at the screen to make Gumshoe jump over pits and avoid obstacles, while also targeting enemies that block your path. The objective is to guide him through each stage to rescue your kidnapped daughter. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty comes from precisely timing your shots to control both your movement and your attacks simultaneously. It feels like a constant, tense juggling act between navigating the environment and clearing a path.
