Gold Medal Challenge '92 is one of those NES sports games that’s way more intense than it looks. You’ve got 18 events—everything from sprinting like your life depends on it (mashing buttons until your thumb hurts) to trying not to faceplant in the pole vault. The swimming events are weirdly satisfying once you get the timing down, though I still can’t figure out why my weightlifter keeps dropping the bar early.
Multiplayer is where it shines—grab some friends, pass around a turbo controller (because the AI cheats), and watch everyone turn into a sweaty, button-mashing mess. The game saves your best times, which is great until your buddy beats your record and you spend the next hour trying to reclaim glory. Just don’t expect realism—this is pure arcade chaos with a side of questionable physics.
