I first played Godzilla on the Game Boy in the early 90s, a release from Compile. It was one of those many games trying to capture the feel of an adventure on the small screen, a time when portable gaming was still mostly black and white and you carried your entire world in a plastic cartridge.

You control Godzilla, walking screen by screen through a city you must destroy. Your main goal is to find and defeat the alien monsters invading Earth. You use your claws and atomic breath to smash buildings and fight enemies; destroying buildings often reveals power-ups that restore your health or increase your attack strength. The game is methodical, as you systematically clear each area, and it can be quite difficult with limited continues. Navigating the destructible environments and managing your health while hunting for the next boss creates a tense, deliberate pace. It feels like being a slow, powerful force methodically dismantling everything in your path.
