About Godzilla 2
Godzilla 2 came out for the NES in 1989, published by Toho. It was one of those late 80s games that tried to do something different on the console, moving away from pure action into a mix of strategy and real time events. You don't control Godzilla directly; instead, you command the human military forces trying to defend cities from various monsters.
You spend most of your time on a world map, navigating menus to deploy military units like tanks, jets, and the Super X aircraft. The main goal is to protect your energy reserves and cities by strategically placing these defenses before a monster arrives to attack. A key mechanic is the use of special weapons, including the controversial "Dimension Tide," which you must position carefully on the map. The game unfolds in real time, so you are constantly managing multiple threats at once, which can feel overwhelming. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is steep, demanding quick decisions and careful resource management. It feels like a tense, high stakes puzzle where one wrong move can lead to a city's destruction.
