Godzilla 2 on NES is one of those weirdly deep strategy games hiding behind a monster movie skin. At first glance, it looks like a simple "defend the city" deal, but then you realize you're juggling resource menus, troop deployments, and even nukes—yeah, you can drop nukes, which feels both awesome and kinda messed up.

The monsters don’t just mindlessly stomp around either. They actually react to your defenses, changing paths or even teaming up against you if you’re too aggressive. And if you last long enough, some of them might switch sides, which is a nice surprise when you’re barely holding on. The controls take a minute to get used to, but once it clicks, you’ll be frantically moving units while praying your missile silos recharge in time.

It’s not perfect—the AI can be janky, and sometimes the monsters just bulldoze everything no matter what you do—but there’s something weirdly satisfying about barely scraping by against a kaiju onslaught. Just don’t expect to win on your first try.
