God Medicine : Fukkoku Ban Game

God Medicine: Fukkoku Ban is one of those weird little Game Boy RPGs that somehow sticks with you. At first glance, it’s all chunky pixels and turn-based combat, but there’s this odd charm to it—like the way your character shuffles around collecting herbs while dodging monsters that look like angry radishes.
The whole "god medicine" thing isn’t just flavor text, either. You’re actually brewing potions mid-battle, which sounds simple until you realize you’ve got three ingredients and no clue what combos actually work. (Turns out mixing mandrake with spider silk does something horrifying. Learned that the hard way.)
It’s got that classic Game Boy jank—menus are clunky, the translation’s a bit rough, and sometimes you’ll wander into a fight you’re absolutely not ready for. But that’s part of the fun. You’ll either love it or rage-quit before the first dungeon. No in-between.
If you’re into obscure retro RPGs with more personality than polish, this one’s worth dusting off the old cartridge for.
