About Goal!
Goal! came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, developed and published by Jaleco. It was one of many sports titles on the platform, a straightforward soccer game from an era when simple mechanics and clear objectives were the standard.
You control a single soccer player on the field, switching between your teammates as the ball changes possession. Your main objective is to outscore the opposing team within the match time. The game uses an overhead perspective, and a key mechanic is the ability to perform a sliding tackle to dispossess opponents. Shooting requires careful positioning and timing, as you aim for the corners of the goal. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can be sharp, especially against aggressive computer defenders.
