About Goal! (europe)
Goal! for the Game Boy came out in 1992 from Jaleco, a time when portable sports games were simple and direct. It was a straightforward soccer title you could take with you, fitting right in with other pocket sized cartridges of the era.
You control a team of players on a small, vertically scrolling field. The main objective is to score more goals than the opposing team within the match time. You pass the ball between your players, make runs to get open, and take shots on goal. Defensively, you position your players to intercept passes and attempt tackles to regain possession. The game moves at a quick pace, and scoring can feel challenging as you learn the timing for shots and the goalkeeper's reach. It feels like a brisk, condensed version of soccer that fits in your hands.
