About Goal! 2
Goal! 2 came out for the NES in 1992, developed and published by Jaleco. It was part of that later wave of NES sports games, arriving when the 16-bit consoles were starting to take over, so it tried to squeeze a bit more out of the aging hardware.
You control a single soccer player on the field at a time, switching between them as the ball moves. The main objective is straightforward: outscore the other team. The game is built around a few key mechanics. There is a dedicated button for sliding tackles, which is risky but effective for stealing the ball. You can also perform bicycle kicks and volleys, though timing them right is tricky. The pace is fast and relentless, with the ball constantly changing possession, and the difficulty ramps up quickly against the computer. Playing it feels like a frantic scramble where a single mistake can lead to a goal against you.
