About Ginga
Ginga was released for the Game Boy in 1990 by the developer/publisher Irem. It came out during a time when many developers were experimenting with action-adventure formats on the handheld, often drawing inspiration from larger console titles but adapting them for shorter, more focused sessions.
You control a young boy on a quest to rescue a kidnapped princess. Your journey takes you through a series of distinct worlds, each composed of single-screen rooms you explore one at a time. You fight enemies using a simple sword attack, and you can also find and use a bow for ranged combat. The main goal is to navigate these areas, defeat bosses, and collect the eight scattered Triforce pieces to complete your quest. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and the difficulty can be sharp, especially in later stages where enemy placement and environmental hazards demand careful movement. Playing it feels like a methodical test of your memory and reflexes.
