About Gilligan's Island
Bandai released Gilligan's Island for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990. It was one of many licensed games from that period, based directly on the popular television show. You control the Skipper, while Gilligan follows you as a computer-controlled companion. The game is structured into four distinct episodes.
Your main goal is to explore the island screen by screen, collecting specific items and talking to the other castaways to solve puzzles. A significant part of the gameplay involves managing Gilligan's AI; he frequently gets stuck on scenery or falls into holes, forcing you to stop and rescue him. This constant need to babysit him slows the pace considerably and adds a layer of frustration. The game does include a password feature to save your progress between levels. Navigating the island while repeatedly freeing Gilligan makes for a uniquely tedious experience.
