Genpei Touma Den on NES is a weird little spin-off—instead of the side-scrolling brawler from the arcade, this one’s a full-on RPG. You’ve got turn-based battles, random encounters, and that classic NES-era grind. The setting’s still feudal Japan, but now you’re navigating menus and managing stats instead of mashing buttons.
It’s got that old-school charm, though. The sprites are chunky but full of personality, and the music’s got that nostalgic 8-bit twang. Just don’t expect deep storytelling—most of the dialogue’s in Japanese, so unless you’re fluent, you’ll be guessing your way through a lot of it. Still, if you dig obscure retro RPGs, this one’s a neat curiosity.
