About Genjin Kotts
Genjin Kotts came out for the Game Boy in 1994, developed by A.I and published by Asmik. It was part of that wave of early platformers that tried to do something a little different on the handheld. You control a small, caveman-like character named Genjin, and your goal is to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend from a rival tribe. The game is structured screen by screen; you move through each self-contained area, dealing with enemies and environmental puzzles.
Your main tools are a club for bashing enemies and a boomerang for hitting things at a distance. You explore the levels thoroughly, often needing to find a key to unlock the exit door. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow, as you figure out the correct sequence of actions. It can be challenging, with precise jumps and enemy placements that require careful timing.
