About Genjin Collection (japan)
Genjin Collection is a Japan exclusive compilation for the original Game Boy, released in 1994 by Hudson Soft. It bundles the three Bonk platformers that appeared on the handheld, which were scaled down versions of the popular TurboGrafx-16 games. This collection arrived late in the original Game Boy's life, offering a substantial amount of content from a recognizable character on a system known for its portable adventures.
You control Bonk, a small, strong caveman with an oversized head. Your goal is to run, jump, and headbutt your way through prehistoric levels filled with dinosaurs and other enemies. A key mechanic is using Bonk's hardened skull to smash foes and break open certain blocks; you can also perform a spinning jump to cross wider gaps. The games progress screen by screen, and you collect fruit to restore health while seeking out the level exit. The pacing is generally brisk, though some stages require careful jumps and enemy timing. It feels like a cheerful, physical puzzle where your main tool is a well aimed bump with your own head.
