About Gauntlet 2
Gauntlet 2 came out for the NES in 1990, published by Atari Games. It was part of that wave of arcade ports that tried to bring chaotic multiplayer action home. You got the same basic dungeon crawl as the original, but now you and your friends could all pick the same character class if you wanted, each one just a different color on screen.
You control a fantasy hero like a warrior or elf, moving screen by screen through monster filled mazes. Your main goal is to find the exit while fighting off endless ghosts, grunts, and demons. Two mechanics stand out: you can pick up potions that let your shots ricochet off walls, and sometimes an "It" enemy appears, turning the level into a frantic game of tag where all monsters chase the cursed player until they touch someone else or escape. The game is relentless, constantly draining your health as you push forward. It feels like a desperate scramble for survival with your friends, shouting over the constant beeping of your dwindling life meter.
